Unsealed court documents show Amazon suppressed sellers’ Buy Box access when their products were priced lower on competing sites

Hundreds of previously redacted documents filed in California's ongoing antitrust lawsuit against Amazon reveal internal emails and depositions showing Amazon used Buy Box suppression and automated price tracking to pressure independent sellers into raising their prices on competitor sites like Walmart, Wayfair, and Temu, with one deposition showing a seller lost Buy Box eligibility because his product was priced one cent lower on Walmart. Sellers testified that losing the Buy Box caused sales to drop by as much as 80%, effectively forcing them to raise prices elsewhere to regain access to the feature. Amazon denied the claims, saying it does not highlight offers that are not competitively priced as part of its commitment to low prices, with the trial scheduled for January 2027.
