TikTok is finalizing settlements in the three personal injury cases set for trial in October over claims the app is addictive and damaging to minors, with the amounts kept confidential, according to plaintiffs' attorneys Joseph VanZandt of Beasley Allen and Emily Jeffcott of Morgan & Morgan. Meta, YouTube, and Snap are still due to defend those cases, brought by three teenagers identified only by their initials who allege depression, anxiety, and self-harm. That clears TikTok out of every personal injury case that had been scheduled for trial this year, five in total. Roughly 3,000 other complaints from young users and families are still pending against the four companies, and the only case to reach a verdict ended in February with $6M against Meta and Google, which are appealing.
