Thrive Capital invested at least $1 billion in OpenAI at a $285 billion valuation through a strategic call option executed in December. The deal allowed Joshua Kushner’s firm to purchase shares at roughly one-third of the price the AI company is currently seeking from other investors. OpenAI is negotiating a separate $100 billion financing round with Amazon and SoftBank that is targeting a massive $830 billion valuation.
