Temu, Shein, and AliExpress received 90.2% of the €55.1 billion that EU consumers spent with online stores outside the bloc in 2025, or €49.7 billion, according to a report from e-commerce data firm ECDB. US stores took 4.8% of that non-EU spending and UK stores 4.6%. The share of EU online spending on physical goods that leaves the bloc reached 13.1% of €421 billion last year, up from 2.3% in 2020, and ECDB expects it to hit 15.2% this year. In the other direction, EU online stores sold just €3.9 billion to shoppers outside the bloc, about half of them in Switzerland.
