Taxwire, a New York City-based platform that automates sales tax and VAT compliance for companies selling across jurisdictions, raised $25M across combined Seed and Series A rounds led by Headline. Co-founders Andrew Rea and Steven Schmatz pair an AI-native tax engine with human tax experts to handle the full compliance cycle, from nexus tracking and registration to filing and remittance across more than 22,000 US jurisdictions and over 100 countries. Every investor in the round was already on Taxwire’s cap table, joined by XYZ, Vinyl, Recall Capital, Nomo Ventures, and hundreds of angels. Rea said Taxwire will use the money to expand its product and support more customers, as indirect-tax rules grow harder to manage for businesses selling across states and countries.
