SerpApi moved Monday to dismiss Google's amended DMCA complaint, arguing that Google never filed or quoted any of the four sources of authority it now cites for running SearchGuard, and never alleged that any of them mentions anti-bot technology. Google refiled on August 10 after Chief Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers dismissed the original complaint, holding that Section 1201 needs the copyright owner's authority behind an access control and that Google had pleaded no terms from the licenses covering Knowledge Panel images. Google's answer is an unnamed rights holder whose agreements go back to 2017, a second provider that requires download prevention, Reddit's licensing deal, and its own privacy policy, which it recasts as permission from the users who upload the photos and reviews.
