Reddit will have a video version of its app ready for testing later this year, one that lets people watch clips from the platform and also listen to posts while doing something else, CEO Steve Huffman said on Thursday's Q2 earnings call. The format already thrives off-platform, with 19.6M TikTok posts tagged #reddit and 9.9M tagged #redditstories, most of them text-to-speech readings of viral threads laid over unrelated gameplay or cooking clips, according to TechCrunch. Huffman described a spoken Reddit as almost a separate format, and didn't say how it would fit inside the main app. Reddit also said video in comments, a feature it launched in June, now makes up over 10% of the video posted to the site.
