Recharge, a subscription management platform, announced it is acquiring Skio to combine the two companies into a single subscription commerce platform that powers more than 20,000 merchants and processes over $20B in gross merchandise volume annually. Recharge has been building subscription infrastructure for more than a decade across tens of thousands of brands, while Skio has built a reputation for fast product iteration and a strong user experience among fast-growing Shopify brands, with the combined company planning to benchmark retention, track checkout revenue trends, and surface insights across the subscription ecosystem. Recharge co-founder and CEO Oisin O'Connor said in the announcement that “the subscription platform of the future doesn't just process transactions, it helps you run a better business.”
