PayPal brings its Ratenzahlung installment loans to Amazon.de in Germany and Austria with terms stretching to 48 months

PayPal will roll out Ratenzahlung, its installment product, on Amazon.de and the Amazon app across Germany and Austria starting in August, in a market where the company puts its own customer base above 40 million. Purchases from €30 to €10,000 qualify, and standard plans run 3, 6, 12, or 24 months, with 36- and 48-month options that PayPal is reserving for Amazon customers. Ratenzahlung is interest-bearing credit rather than a free pay-in-four split, carrying an effective annual rate of 11.49% and fixed borrowing rates between 10.86% and 10.91%, which works out to €1,059.94 in total on a €1,000 purchase repaid over a year. Installments debit automatically from a bank account or debit card, and customers can make extra payments or settle early at no cost, provided they pass a credit check and reside in Germany or Austria.
