OpenRouter raised $113M in Series B funding led by CapitalG, the growth venture fund of Alphabet, valuing the AI gateway startup at roughly $1.3B post-money according to The New York Times. That's more than double the estimated $547M post-money valuation it hit a year ago after raising a $40M Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz and Menlo Ventures, with participation from Sequoia, per PitchBook. OpenRouter's gateway helps enterprises and other AI users route tasks between different models to control costs or boost reasoning and accuracy. The platform provides access to over 400 models including Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, xAI, and DeepSeek, and claims 8 million global users and 100 trillion tokens processed per month, or 25 trillion per week, a 5x increase from six months ago. The growth points to a multi-model future where AI users avoid getting locked into a single vendor.
