OpenAI is hiring a product manager to build experiences for families, caregivers, and older adults across its products, based on a job posting, as ChatGPT's audience broadens beyond younger users, according to TechCrunch. ChatGPT users aged 35 and older rose to 31% globally in Q2 from 26% a year earlier, while the 18-to-24 share fell to 29% from 34%, per Sensor Tower estimates. Nearly one in four U.S. parents on smartphones used ChatGPT in the quarter, up from 16% a year earlier, and analysts see the role as OpenAI shifting from individual-productivity tools toward household technology. Scrutiny of how AI firms protect younger users is rising, with OpenAI facing lawsuits from parents over harms to their children and adding parental controls and self-harm safeguards over the past year.
