OpenAI has started running product carousels in ChatGPT ads, letting several items share one slot beneath a user’s conversation, according to screenshots verified by Krystal Scanlon at Digiday. The carousel draws on retailers’ product feeds much as Google Shopping does, and OpenAI’s ad platform rather than the advertiser decides whether a given query gets a carousel or the single-product unit the company has leaned on for five months. Each carousel currently shows items from one retailer. The format follows the bulk feed campaign tools OpenAI released three months ago, and it lands ahead of the holiday quarter, with the company reported to be chasing $2.5 billion in ad revenue this year.
