Meta signed a multibillion-dollar deal with AWS to use tens of millions of Graviton CPU cores for its AI agent initiatives

Meta and Amazon Web Services agreed to a multibillion-dollar, three-to-five year deal for Meta to use tens of millions of AWS Graviton CPU chip cores to support its AI agents and other AI initiatives, with most of the cores located in the U.S. and Meta specifically choosing AWS's Graviton5, a 3-nanometer chip, for its price-to-performance ratio. The deal reflects a broader resurgence in CPU demand driven by the rise of AI agents, which rely on CPUs to run certain applications and feed activity back to GPUs, making the two chip types complementary rather than competing. The agreement makes Meta one of AWS's five largest Graviton customers and is one of several chip deals Meta has announced this year alongside agreements with Nvidia, AMD, and Arm Holdings.
