Meta says the crew aboard Zuckerberg’s superyacht never heard the Coast Guard call from a skiff that ran out of fuel off Alaska

Mark Zuckerberg’s yacht Launchpad was the closest vessel to a skiff that lost fuel off southeast Alaska last week but never answered the Coast Guard call, according to the Alaska Beacon. A cruise ship farther away, the Wilderness Legacy, towed the skiff into Farragut Bay and refueled it, and a passenger aboard posted that authorities had radioed the yacht and been repeatedly refused. A spokesperson for Zuckerberg told the Alaska Beacon by e-mail that the crew was working a different radio channel and only saw the Coast Guard contact once the rescue was already happening. The spokesperson said neither Zuckerberg nor his family were aboard and cited the Coast Guard’s assessment that the skiff was not in distress.
