Meta has launched its first standalone AI app, Meta AI, bringing text, voice, and image capabilities powered by its Llama 4 model directly to consumers on iOS and Android. Designed to personalize interactions by drawing from users' Meta profiles and preferences, the app marks Meta’s biggest consumer AI push yet, though for now, real-time web browsing is not supported. Available in the U.S. and Canada, Meta AI offers a “Discover” feed where users can explore and remix top prompts, leveraging Meta’s massive user data advantage over rivals like OpenAI and Perplexity. The release comes just ahead of Meta’s Q1 earnings report, where strong AI engagement numbers are expected to be a key highlight.
