After Zuckerberg announced the July 14-16 event on Friday as a way to rebuild camaraderie, workers responded with angry messages and sarcastic memes, with one comment that the company no longer supports a hackathon culture drawing more than 200 reactions, and others noting the effort would not count toward performance reviews. It would be Meta's first companywide hackathon since it cut 8,000 staff last month, and it was one of several morale moves Zuckerberg floated, alongside bigger offsite budgets and ending desk-sharing in some offices.
