Jeff Bezos has held talks about joining a consortium bidding for around 30% of Liverpool, according to The Guardian. The group, led by former Queens Park Rangers co-owner Amit Bhatia and financially backed by his father-in-law, the Indian steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, has made a provisional £1.35bn offer to Fenway Sports Group that values the club at roughly £4.5bn. Bezos would receive equity in Liverpool under any agreement, his first investment in a Premier League club after earlier pursuits of the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders that never closed. Bhatia cleared the way on Tuesday by transferring his QPR shares to fellow owner Ruben Gnanalingam. FSG, which sold 3% of Liverpool to private equity firm Dynasty Equity in 2023, has confirmed the consortium's interest in a strategic minority investment.
