Grab agreed to pay $600M in cash for Delivery Hero’s Foodpanda delivery business in Taiwan, marking the Singapore-based ride-hailing and delivery company’s first move outside Southeast Asia, with the deal expected to close in the second half of 2026. Foodpanda Taiwan generated $1.8B in gross merchandise value in 2025 and was profitable on an adjusted EBITDA basis, with Grab projecting at least $60M in incremental adjusted EBITDA contribution by 2028 and planning to migrate users to the Grab app by early 2027. Delivery Hero will use the proceeds to repay debt, with the divestiture representing what CEO Niklas Oestberg called “a key first step” in the company’s strategic review, though major shareholder Aspex Management called the Taiwan sale “completely insufficient” given Delivery Hero’s ongoing regulatory fines and capital management issues.
