Goodwipes spoofs OpenAI’s divisive Astra ad with an AI-made parody called Asstra in which everyone turns out to be on the toilet

Goodwipes released Asstra, a minute-long parody of OpenAI’s Astra ad that the flushable wipe brand made with AI in four days through Frank Cartagena’s shop OK Future, according to Rebecca Stewart at Adweek. The spoof restages the original’s scenes of people slouched in front of a screen giving orders to an AI, opens on a loud fart, and then pulls the camera back to show that every one of them is sitting on a toilet, with a voice announcing that “the future of butt wiping has arrived.” OpenAI’s ad had pitched Astra as a companion that orders takeout and builds video games for someone who never leaves the armchair, and the gag rests on one of the brand’s standing messages, that technology races ahead while butt-wiping hasn’t changed since the 1800s.
