Sriram Krishnan, the former White House AI adviser who left the Trump administration in June, is raising a venture fund of about $500M to back growth- and later-stage AI companies, according to Leo Schwartz at The Information. Krishnan, a former Andreessen Horowitz general partner, will run the firm as its only general partner and focus on US AI companies working in areas like national security and cybersecurity, especially ones that can partner with government agencies. The fund is still early, with no date set for a first close, though one person expects it to begin writing checks before the end of the year. Krishnan joins a string of Trump tech staffers heading back to the private sector, including David Sacks, whose Craft Ventures is seeking a new $1B fund.
