Facebook launches a standalone Seller app for Marketplace and adds free selfie-based verification across Dating and Groups

Facebook launched a standalone app called Seller for people who list on Marketplace frequently, giving them one place to manage listings, message buyers, and track how items perform. The company also plans to add AI to the app to write descriptions of items sellers want to list and to search through groups to answer questions. Marketplace carries more than 430 million monthly listings and is a big reason younger users stay on a platform with more than 1.1 billion active users. Standalone apps have become routine for Meta, which launched a Reddit-style app for Facebook Groups called Forum in May and a vibe-coding app called Pocket this month. Facebook also rolled out Facebook Verified, a free check that has users take a selfie to confirm they're real, then shows a white-circle check mark on their profile across Dating, Marketplace, and Groups.
