Depop, a fashion resale marketplace, saw a proposed federal class action over its hidden Marketplace Fee voluntarily dismissed without prejudice, leaving a similar California state case pending, according to Liz Morton at Value Added Resource. Plaintiff Linsey Dinh, who had accused Depop of ‘drip pricing’ by hiding a $1.55 Marketplace Fee on a $17 purchase until checkout, dropped the suit Friday with no ruling on whether the practice broke California’s Honest Pricing Law. Depop had flagged an earlier California state case, Yuen, covering the same allegations, saying mediation was done and resolution expected within months. Fee changes continue as Depop awaits UK clearance for its roughly $1.2B sale to eBay and rolls out a buyer Marketplace Fee in Australia while cutting seller commissions there.
