Block opens its Cash App Score to outside lenders through Nova Credit, covering credit cards, auto loans, and tenant screening

Block is opening Cash App Score, the credit signal it built to underwrite its own lending, to outside lenders through Nova Credit’s Cash Flow Intelligence platform, which drops it into underwriting systems those lenders already run without new consumer credentials. The score reads first-party activity inside Cash App, including spending, saving, repayment, paycheck deposits, and money sent between users, to gauge financial health close to real time. Block has started showing the score to customers in the app’s Money Tab. Lenders can apply it to credit cards, auto loans, device financing, personal loans, and tenant screening, lines Cash App doesn’t compete in. Block built the score to reach people traditional credit scoring misses, said Juan Hernandez, its head of credit and underwriting.
