Apple acquires silent communication startup Q.ai for near $2B

Apple acquired Q.ai, an AI startup specializing in “silent” communication, in a deal valued at close to $2 billion. The Israel-based company develops technology that processes facial movements to interpret nonvocal commands for use in noisy or public environments. The transaction represents one of Apple’s largest acquisitions to date, second only to its 2014 purchase of Beats.
