Anthropic more than doubles its public estimate of average daily Claude Code spending from $6 to $13 per developer

Anthropic updated its public Claude Code documentation to estimate that the average enterprise developer spends about $13 per active day on tokens, with costs staying below $30 per active day for 90% of users and monthly costs running $150 to $250 per developer. Archived versions of the page show that before April 16, those estimates were $6 per developer per active day with costs below $12 per active day for 90% of users, a change first pointed out by EZPR CEO Ed Zitron on X. Anthropic head of growth Amol Avasare wrote on X that “engagement per subscriber is way up” and that the company's subscription plans “weren't built for this,” following last week's user outcry when Claude Code briefly appeared to no longer be listed as available for Pro subscribers.
