Amazon told investors that groceries and everyday essentials are growing “meaningfully faster” than the rest of the Stores business, without attaching a number to it, while Stores revenue overall rose 15% last quarter. CEO Andy Jassy said the count of monthly customers buying perishables is up more than 50% since January, that same-day orders containing perishables carry roughly three times the units, and that fresh groceries are six of the twenty bestselling items on Amazon.com. Amazon Now, the 30-minute delivery service that started in May across four metros including Atlanta and Seattle, reached 80 more cities and towns during the quarter.
