Amazon raises a record C$14B in the largest corporate Canadian dollar bond sale ever to help fund its AI buildout

Amazon sold C$14B (about $10B) of high-grade bonds, the largest corporate debt offering ever in Canadian dollars, drawing roughly twice that in orders as it scours global markets to fund its AI spending. The five-part sale of senior unsecured notes, with maturities from three to 30 years, breaks a record Alphabet set just a month ago with a C$8.5B offering, and would make Amazon one of the 10 largest issuers in Canada's investment-grade corporate bond market. It adds to a borrowing spree that has Amazon raising more than $82B in debt since the start of 2025 across currencies including euros and Swiss francs, as the company plans to spend roughly $200B this year on data centers, chips, and infrastructure.
