Amazon launched its Amazon Now service in Brazil to provide 15-minute grocery deliveries. The company partnered with Rappi, a delivery app, to expand the platform from São Paulo to seven additional cities by March 9. The service offered free shipping to Prime members and charged a $1.04 fee for standard customers. The firm invested 55 billion reais in the local economy since the early 2010s to compete with MercadoLibre, a Uruguay-based e-commerce platform.
