Amazon introduces ads to Prime Music in India, alongside the launch of ad-free Music Unlimited in the market

by | Jun 2, 2026 | Latest E-commerce News & Updates

Amazon began introducing ads to its Prime Music tier in India as of June 2, having confirmed to Android Authority that the change is specific to the Indian market, though users in Australia reported receiving similar emails. Amazon Music Prime, included with a Prime membership, previously allowed ad-free shuffle play. The move coincides with Amazon launching Music Unlimited in India for the first time, with the notification email steering users who want to “continue listening ad-free and offline with HD and Spatial Audio” toward the paid tier. The change follows Amazon's introduction of ads to Prime Video in 2024. For now, the rollout does not affect subscribers in Canada, Mexico, or the U.S.
