German antitrust officials fined Amazon approximately $70 million for using price-filtering tools that suppress third-party listings. The Federal Cartel Office ordered the company to stop using the algorithms, which downgrade offers deemed too expensive. Amazon is appealing the decision, arguing that the ruling will force the retailer to promote uncompetitive prices to consumers.
