Amazon received roughly $600 million in tariff refunds last quarter, CFO Brian Olsavsky told analysts on Thursday, and said the company will contact and repay customers in the limited cases where it can trace a specific import charge to what a shopper actually paid. Everything else goes toward keeping prices low. Olsavsky said the total came in small because Amazon bought and positioned inventory ahead of the tariffs, and because it isn't the importer of record on most of what sells in its store. Consumers sued Amazon in Seattle federal court in May, arguing they were owed money on tariff-inflated prices and that the company was avoiding the refund process to stay in Trump's good graces.
