eBay quietly raises seller currency conversion fees by a quarter point in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and four EU markets

eBay is raising the currency conversion fee it charges sellers by a quarter point in several markets without announcing it beyond notes on its fee pages, according to Liz Morton at Value Added Resource. US and Canadian sellers go from 3% to 3.25% on October 14, Australia follows November 1, the UK rises from 2.5% to 2.75% on December 1, and Germany, France, Italy, and Spain move to 3.25% on December 2. The charge applies when a seller lists on an eBay site in another currency, such as a US seller listing on eBay Germany, and eBay keeps it on top of the wholesale exchange rate whenever it converts fees or payouts. It’s separate from the 1.65% international fee US sellers pay on cross-border sales that don’t ship through eBay International Shipping.
