Temu pulls most of its Meta partnership ads from likely fake creator accounts after researchers flagged the network in August

Temu has mostly stopped running Meta partnership ads through creator accounts that researchers flagged as likely fake, according to Jim Edwards at Fortune, which got no comment from Temu or Meta. Czech research group Online Risk Labs had found Temu spent nearly $1 billion over 16 months on creator partnership ads across Instagram and Facebook in the UK and EU, and judged roughly 73 of the 100 accounts carrying the most Temu ads to be probably fake. Within days of Fortune’s August 31 report, 90 of those top accounts showed no Temu ads at all. Temu’s weekly partnership ads fell from about 115,000 to 64,000 between mid-August and early September, while its total weekly ads slipped only from about 167,000 to 147,000.
