Vinted has started charging US buyers by package size after months of free and $0.99 shipping, with USPS and FedEx now starting at $3.19 for large parcels and some buyers seeing up to $3.99 on bulky items like backpacks and shoes, according to Liz Morton at Value Added Resource. Small and medium packages still start at $0.99, and SpeedX home delivery runs $0.49 to $1.49. Depop, which eBay bought from Etsy for about $1.4 billion in July, began offering $0.99 shipping on purchases under $10 in smaller packages on September 16. Neither marketplace discloses how much of each label it’s absorbing at rates far below public commercial prices, though Vinted has said cheaper shipping is what makes low-value secondhand sales worth doing.
