SpaceX has replaced several leaders on the team building its AI data centers with executives from its rocket and satellite internet units, according to Grace Kay at The Information. The shuffle followed civil engineering and reliability problems at the AI unit’s facilities in Tennessee and Mississippi, which spent months operating with no backup cooling or power systems after a rushed build, raising the risk of outages, people familiar with the work said. Wesley Salandro, formerly production VP for the Falcon and Dragon rockets, and Logan McConnell from the Starbase launch site have joined the infrastructure team, while Jake Palmer, who ran physical infrastructure, left in late July. SpaceX has also delayed the start of construction on data centers outside Memphis, including in Texas.
