TikTok announced a series of in-app activations and creator partnerships for International Museum Day on May 18, kicking off a new “Museums Come Alive” LIVE program that gives users behind-the-scenes access to iconic cultural institutions through official TikTok LIVEs. The launch builds on recent traction with cultural institutions, with the Metropolitan Museum of Art hosting a three-day LIVE series of creator and curator tours in March and the Grand Egyptian Museum streaming its opening ceremony in November, combining for nearly 5M global viewers. TikTok also released a 2026 Museum Insights Report noting that 56 of the top 100 most visited museums in the world have official TikTok accounts, including the Met, the Louvre, and the Grand Egyptian Museum.
