Amazon is in talks invest approximately $10 billion in OpenAI, according to The Information sources, in a deal that could value the AI firm at over $500 billion. The potential investment followed a $38 billion cloud services agreement signed between the companies in November and OpenAI’s recent restructuring into a public benefit corporation. Reports indicated OpenAI planned to utilize Amazon’s Trainium chips to diversify its hardware supply beyond Nvidia as it prepares for a future initial public offering.
