39 state bankers associations form BankChain Alliance to build a bank-owned network for tokenized deposits and stablecoins

Thirty-nine state bankers associations formed the BankChain Alliance, a bank-owned blockchain network for tokenized deposits, stablecoins, smart payment tools, and automated settlement, with a launch targeted for 2027. The alliance is still choosing a technology partner, and it plans to invite banks across the country to take ownership stakes in a network it says will work with other chains. But it named no bank that has committed to joining, and it gave no detail on governance or funding. BankChain enters a field that already includes The Clearing House initiative backed by JPMorgan, Bank of America, Citi, BNY, and Wells Fargo, and Cari, a regional-lender network that had signed more than 30 banks by July.
