X cuts payments to content aggregators by 60% and will penalize accounts that use “🚨BREAKING” on every post

X head of product Nikita Bier announced that all users who repackage and repost news from other accounts had their creator revenue sharing payouts reduced by 60%, with a further 20% reduction to follow, saying aggregators were “flooding the timeline with 100 stolen reposts and clickbait everyday” and crowding out original creators. The platform will also impose a permanent payment deduction on accounts that use “🚨BREAKING” on every post, and Bier said X is testing tools to identify original authors and allocate a portion of revenue to them. Several right-wing influencers said their payments had been cut or stopped entirely, with some claiming they received no explanation, though X said the changes apply to accounts violating its creator monetization standards.
