Warner Music Group and cookie chain Crumbl have reached an agreement in principle to settle the copyright infringement lawsuit WMG filed against the dessert company last April, the parties confirmed in a joint court filing in Utah federal court, with financial terms undisclosed. They expect to finalize the settlement on or before June 15. WMG sued in April 2025, alleging Crumbl used at least 159 of its recordings and compositions, including works by Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift, and Beyoncé, in promotional videos posted to TikTok and Instagram. WMG had sought up to $150,000 in statutory damages per infringed work, a maximum potential payout of about $23.85M. The complaint accused Crumbl of continuing to post infringing content for months after a cease-and-desist letter in August 2023, and cited a January 2024 Crumbl TikTok in which the company joked that legal had told it not to use trending audios.
