UK Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy is quitting X and taking her department off the platform with her, saying it now rewards abuse and misinformation over real debate. Her exit makes Nandy one of the most senior figures in Keir Starmer's government to leave X, following the Attorney General's Office, which quit last month over what it called constant racism and misogyny. Ofcom opened a formal investigation into X in January after reports that its Grok chatbot generated and circulated illegal nonconsensual intimate images, and the regulator can fine X up to £18M ($24M) or 10% of worldwide revenue, whichever is greater.
