TruthEngine, a UK online-review verification company, raised an undisclosed seven-figure Series A led by automotive and technology entrepreneur Tom Wood, with a syndicate of tech and legal veterans including former Google South East Asia managing director Julian Persaud. The company uses AI and forensic analysis to authenticate online reviews and detect manipulation, and will use the funding to expand across sectors like financial services, telecoms, and consumer marketplaces. The raise comes as the UK's DMCC Act makes review authenticity a legal obligation that sits with businesses, not just review platforms, with the CMA able to fine companies up to 10% of global turnover for breaches and enforcement now active. CEO Daniel Mohacek argued that as AI-generated content and regulation reshape online reputation, businesses need independent visibility across their entire review footprint.
