TrueLayer, Europe's leading Pay by Bank network, acquired Dutch BNPL provider in3, making it the only Pay by Bank platform in Europe to offer both debit and credit at checkout. The Amsterdam-based fintech serves millions of consumers and thousands of merchants with a credit model built for account-to-account payments rather than card infrastructure. BNPL will be TrueLayer's first credit product to launch, with longer-duration credit products to follow later this year. TrueLayer said its model replaces the card network entirely, with no chargeback fraud. Pay by Bank now accounts for up to 17% of European ecommerce transaction value, with recent adoption from Amazon and eBay. TrueLayer's network reaches over 25 million consumers across 22 countries and processes over $150B in annualized payment volume. The deal follows TrueLayer's October 2025 acquisition of Zimpler and comes ahead of the FCA's first wave of UK BNPL regulation on July 15, 2026.
