Thinking Machines, an AI startup founded in February 2025 by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, focused on building specialized, customizable, and efficient AI models, rather than just increasing model size, signed a multi-year partnership with Nvidia to secure capital and procure at least one gigawatt of next-generation processors. The company plans to deploy the upcoming Vera Rubin systems early next year to train its models. The startup currently seeks additional funding after closing a $2 billion seed round and losing two co-founders to OpenAI.
