EU watchdogs are preparing draft findings under the Digital Markets Act that would specify how rival AI services including ChatGPT and Claude should be granted equal access to core Android features currently exclusive to Google's Gemini, including voice activation, search tools, and the ability to integrate with other Android software. The draft findings stop short of a formal investigation but are designed to pressure Google to re-engineer its services, with the EU reserving the right to launch a formal probe and impose financial penalties if Google does not comply. Google has previously said it is concerned the effort could “compromise user privacy, security, and innovation,” and the White House has criticized the Digital Markets Act as unfairly targeting American companies.
