Spotify released Studio by Spotify Labs, a new standalone desktop app that lets users create personal AI-generated podcasts based on a topic or personal context like email, calendar, and bookings, with an AI agent that can browse the web and fetch personal information. Users can make multistep requests like “Create a daily audio brief for my road trip through Italy” combining calendar data, restaurant recommendations, and podcast suggestions, with all generated podcasts saved privately in the user's Spotify library. The app is launching in research preview to more than 20 markets for select users 18 or older, competing with NotebookLM, Adobe, ElevenLabs, Hero, and Huxe in the AI podcast generation space.
