S&P Dow Jones Indices declined to fast-track SpaceX, Anthropic, and other megacap debuts into the S&P 500, sticking to its usual bar for ownership, profitability, and trading record. The decision keeps those companies out of the blue-chip index favored by 401(k) and other retirement savers for at least a year. Rival providers Russell, Morningstar, and Nasdaq have already changed their rules to let the megacaps in, so investors hoping to avoid names like SpaceX through index funds will have to pick carefully, Fortune notes. SpaceX is also setting aside as much as 30% of its IPO for retail buyers, well above the usual 5% to 10%.
