Shopify Credit switches to Payments-based remittance collection for Texas merchants due to new state law

Shopify Credit began collecting remittances through Shopify Payments for Texas merchants using the “Pay over Time from Sales” repayment method, starting January 12, 2026, in response to new legal requirements in the state. Repayment amounts are automatically deducted from each day's Shopify Payments payout before funds are deposited into the merchant's bank account. The change applies only to “Pay over Time from Sales” financings, with “Pay in Full” monthly repayments continuing to be collected via ACH direct debit.
