A 20-year-old man threw a Molotov cocktail at OpenAI CEO Sam Altman's home in San Francisco's Russian Hill neighborhood at around 3:45 a.m. Friday, setting fire to an exterior gate before fleeing on foot. The suspect was arrested about an hour later at OpenAI's headquarters three miles away, where he was threatening to burn down the building. No one was hurt, and it was unclear whether Altman was home at the time. Altman responded in a blog post saying criticism of AI was “quite valid” but added that society should “de-escalate the rhetoric and tactics and try to have fewer explosions in fewer homes, figuratively and literally.”
