Salesforce extended its “headless” architecture push to enterprise data management via Informatica, one of its more recent acquisitions, breaking apart Informatica's traditional Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) platform into reusable data management services that can be invoked directly inside AI-native environments. The reusable services are exposed through Model Context Protocol rather than custom connectors, allowing enterprises to invoke data management operations directly from LLMs and IDEs including Claude, Slackbot, and Cursor, rather than through Informatica's own interface. The move fills a gap around trusted enterprise data including governance, metadata management, and lineage that AI agents need to act with less human supervision, with analysts noting it could reduce developer learning curves from weeks to minutes, though they cautioned CIOs to be wary of cost and accuracy concerns.
